Our Unalienable Right

I’ll never forget one Christmas, my Dad gave me a copy of our Constitution and our Declaration of Independence. He told me to memorize them, to understand them, not only because it was our duty as American citizens, but that one day, those rights may be taken from us.

My facebook is filled with hatred from one side and cheers from the other. It’s only 8 am here in Germany and I’ve already had to shut it down. No more can I take the constant badgering of people on both sides claiming the other side is evil or hateful based on the alignment of what the other thought was right.

I never fully understood why my dad made me learn the Declaration until today. While people are crying, or praying, or cheering, or fainting, or any combination of the sorts, it seems that they’ve forgotten one very important thing: That We The People.

To me, it seems something should have been changed months ago. Hilary would not have been your “Savior.” If you think she cares for you and what you stand for, take a big look at her foundation’s pocket book. Where do you think it came from? It came from countries who target and kill women and those belonging to the LGBTQ community. That’s called hypocrisy, my friends.

And Trump surely will not be ours. A man who resembles Hitler, in more ways than one, will target and instill fear until he gets his way, which by all accounts, according to his past, do NOT line up with the words I’ve read in the bible. Furthermore, a man who degrades women and targets single groups of people based on their beliefs, and a man whom I hope you’d never let your daughters date, is about to spit out more hatred and discord than we’ve seen in this lifetime. Or have we forgotten?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Ephesians 5:22-23

My mom once told me that if you can’t put a person’s name with each of those qualities, you should never consider marrying them. Mark is Love, Mark is Joy, Mark is peace, etc.

Our leader should exemplify the same characteristics. Can you put Trump’s name with these? Trump is Love, Trump is Joy, Trump is Peace…. It makes me want to vomit typing such insults to God’s holy words.

We were never forced to align with either. The thoughts of Thomas Jefferson are inscribed today, held up in Washington and they read as such:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

If our system is such that we were “forced” to choose between two absolute crooks, liars, and hateful people, then the system has failed, We The People. We The People have not only the privilege, but it is our right to alter or abolish the system.

If the two party system gave us these two as choices, then it’s time for the system to go, and it’s time to make our voices understood, for we are together, the United States of America.

So today, Love each other, Love the stranger on the street who needs some food, Love the Muslim and the Athiest and the Christian with different beliefs than you, Love the man or woman with the different colored skin for Jesus loved all the little children, Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in his sight.
